What happens ?
When using macOS 10.15 (Catalina) or later, MovieRecorder and MovieRecorder Express 4.3.9 or earlier can crash after a few hours when using the remote control feature. The crash only concerns the "Server" (the MovieRecorder being controlled by another one), and does not happen on the "Client" (the MovieRecorder controlling another one).
If you don't use remote control (either through another MovieRecorder, a webpage, or our API and a third party), you should not be impacted.
What causes it?
It happens in a code that hadn't changed since a while, and does not happen with previous versions of the OS, so it's an issue specific to macOS Catalina or later.
How to fix it?
As it's a macOS (10.15 or later) issue in a code that we had been using since a while, without change on our side, and as later versions of macOS did not provide a fix, we had to change the methods we use for remote control. Versions 4.4 or later of MovieRecorder and MovieRecorder Express are using this new method.
Thus, we advise all users with macOS Catalina or later (and using the remote control feature of MovieRecorder) to download and install version 4.4 or later of MovieRecorder.
As usual, make sure to run extensive tests with the new version to make sure that it works in your specific use.
