HOW TO: Explore Softron's Applications with the DEMO Mode (free)

Most of our applications come with a DEMO mode that you can try for free, with no time limitations.

The demo mode is fully functional and includes all the features (see some exceptions below) of the licensed version. This means you can test our applications and their functionality, even with your complete setup.

The limitations will depend on each application, but for our playout and ingest applications, the only difference is that, every few seconds, it adds blue DEMO frames to the recording or the output. Here is an example with OnTheAir Video: 

Once you purchase a license, you'll be using the same application without the DEMO frame.

Some limitations

For some applications, the DEMO mode is not included or has certain limitations. Here's an overview of each software:

OnTheAir Video	✓	Blue DEMO frames every few seconds in the output. Demo mode does not have the traffic options. When testing the Remote control option in DEMO mode, the media folder isn’t cataloged, so controls are available but the Remote Media Browser is not. In DEMO mode, EPG export is limited to 4 hours.
OnTheAir Video Express	✓	Blue DEMO frames every few seconds in the output.
M|Replay	✓	Blue DEMO frames every few seconds in the recorded files and in the output.
OnTheAir CG Designer	✓	There is no limitations for the creation of projects. The main use of OnTheAir CG Designer is to create these projects for either OnTheAir CG Server or for OnTheAir Video (with the Dynamic Graphics Overlay option). It is only if you want to output to a video device directly from OnTheAir CG Designer that you will see the blue DEMO frames every few seconds in the output. But that is not how it is typically used...
OnTheAir CG Server	✓	Blue DEMO frames every few seconds in the output. But you can create CG projects without limitations, and usually you don't output in OnTheAir CG Designer, but in OnTheAir CG Server or OnTheAir Video.
OnTheAir WebLink	✓	Blue DEMO frames every few seconds in the outputs.
Multicam Logger	✓	A maximum of 10 angles can be logged. But you can use the demo version to export.
Streaming Center	✓	Blue DEMO frames every few seconds in the outputs.
AMP Server	✖	If you want to test it before purchasing, make sure to contact us to ask for a temporary serial number.
OnTheAir MOS Gateway	✖	If you want to test it before purchasing, make sure to contact us to ask for a temporary serial number.
OnTheAir Node	✓	Blue DEMO frames every few seconds in the outputs.
OnTheAir Manager	✓	Schedule can not be sent to OnTheAir Node. You can create the schedule, but not send it.

How to use the Demo mode

1. Download the application (on our website for the latest version or on the pre-released page)

2. Open it and use it without activating a license.

3. The best place to verify  if your application is in DEMO mode, is when you select the menu "About OnTheAir Video", or "About {Name of the Application}". This window will open:

4. Note that if you go to the menu "License", the license window will pop up. When the application is running in DEMO, the window will look like this:
