IMPORTANT NOTE: Only OnTheAir Video can use Transitions. This won't work with OnTheAir Video Express.
Add transitions to bring even more to your playlist. You can use either built-in transitions, or custom transitions (made with your own movies with an Alpha Channel).
Set Up a Transition
Select a clip in your playlist and open the Clip Inspector. (“Top menu > Window > Clip Inspector”). In the Attributes section, click on “Start Transition:”
There you have access to a large list of Built-in transitions:
- Dissolves effects
- Push effects
- Wipe effects
- etc
> Click on the transition you want. It will be added to the clip. If there is another clip just before, the transition will be played between the two clips.
Note that in the playlist, the clip has a yellow bar to indicate there is a Start Transition.
The playlist will also update its length as it gives time feedback from the transitions.
You can also create custom transitions using our Transition Editor. It will be automatically added to the list.
Transition Editor
To create a custom transition:
Go to the top menu “Window > Transition Editor”
Use the keyboard shortcut “ command + shift + P ”
The Transition Editor window will open. There you can see the list of Built-in transitions. Now press on the “+” in the bottom left to add a custom project.
Now add your movie (made with Alpha Channel for example) to the Transition Editor. A new category is created: the Custom Transitions. Projects are visible in the window:
You can adjust the Playhead from the beginning and the end point manually. But you can also do it automatically by using the Magic Wand.
The Magic Wand will determine the best position and time for your actual clips (A and B) and for the transition.
- Premultiply RGB by alpha: When enable, it applies the transparency (alpha) to the color of the graphics. When disable, the outputting is straight.
- The camera (next to the Magic Wand) can be used to determine the thumbnail of the transition.
