What do M|... and S|... mean?
These allow you to differentiate the 2 main types of bundles:
- The bundles that start with M|... are hardware and software bundles such as the M|8i, M|4i, M|8e, M|4e, etc...
- The ones that start with S|... are software only bundles such as the S|80, S|40, etc...
What do the "e" and "i" letters mean in the M|... bundles?
These allow to differentiate if the hardware bundle is meant to be "inside" our "outside" of the computer:
- The M|... bundles with the "e", mean they are meant to be used "outside" of the computer, so they are a Thunderbolt expansion chassis with the card inside. These are for computers that don't have internal PCIe slots such as Mac minis or Mac Studios.
- The M|... bundles with the "i", are to be used inside a computer, so it's a PCIe card that you will put inside a Mac Pro. Note that you can also order that one if you want to use your own expansion chassis.
