HOW TO: Upgrade or update to a newer version ?

Minor updates (e.g., from version 3.1 to 3.2) are free for Softron software. Just download the latest version, unzip it, quit the old application, and launch the new one.

Major upgrades (e.g., from version 3.x to 4.x) are subject to a fee. In this case, you will need to purchase an upgrade through your reseller or our online store.

Upgrade process

If you are using a dongle

When placing your order, you must specify the serial number of the dongle that needs to be upgraded. Once the order is processed, you will receive an upgrade procedure for your dongle.

If you are using a serial number

You will receive an additional (“upgrade”) serial number. This must be added to your application alongside your existing (“main”) serial number and activated.

Please note that both serials are required, and you will need to activate/deactivate both when transferring the license between computers or reinstalling the system.

Important

If you prefer to use a single serial number instead of managing both a main and an upgrade serial, you must explicitly request this when placing your order. If you do it afterwards, a fee may apply.

When placing your order, add a comment indicating the serial number(s) you want to replace. This is very important, otherwise, your order may be processed automatically with the standard dual-serial setup.

In such cases, you will need to deactivate the existing serial, remove it from your account, and only then can we generate a new full serial number that works independently.

Additional notes

It is always recommended to perform the upgrade using the latest version of the software.

After upgrading, you can use either the old or the new version of the software interchangeably (but not both at the same time).
