Known limitations
HDR formats
OnTheAir Video only supports HDR static metadata packing, with HLG and PQ transfer characteristics. Dolby Vision is supported, when using HLG or PQ.
Output settings
HDR currently only works with Blackmagic-Design devices, and with the "Smart Resize and Graphics" option enabled. Make sure also to set the pixel format to YUV 10bit.
ARGB is not yet supported in HDR.
Codecs limitations
This version of OnTheAir Video includes all the features of the standard 4.5 release, with the addition of HDR support. To implement HDR, we made significant changes to how video files are decoded and how output formats are handled. Not all formats are supported at this time—only ProRes and HEVC have been fully tested, especially for HDR playback.
Conversions between formats
Please note that there is currently no automatic conversion between SDR and HDR formats. Each clip will be output using its original color primaries. Format conversion is planned for a future update.
Transitions
Transitions are not fully supported. There may be glitches, particularly when going from one SDR/HDR format to another.
Graphics (Dynamic Graphics Overlay)
CG Projects (when using the Dynamic Graphics Overlay option) will not have the appropriate colors when using HDR.
