Note that there are two places in which you can manage your licenses:
- in any browser, in the "Softron License Manager" platform. Check this other article.
- from the "Licenses..." menu of your Softron application. That's what we are talking about here.
Depending on what you need to do, you will open one or the other. Check the differences between the two here.
The "Application Licenses" window
To manage your licenses in your Softron application, you will go to the following menu:
The first window that shows up is the "Application Licenses" window. This window will show:
- all the serial numbers with a valid activation for this application (when a serial expires, it is removed from the list, click on "Manage Serials" if you want to activate more serials)
- all the dongles with a valid license for this application
In the screenshot above, you can see:
- Application is Authorized: tells that the licenses below are valid and the application is not in DEMO mode. If there are no valid license it would show "Application is in DEMO"
- Channels: 4: tells how many channels are available in total. This adds all the licenses in the list below (serials and dongles). This is mainly for applications that can handle multiple channels (MovieRecorder, M|Replay, etc...)
- Attached Serials and Dongles:
- The first 2 licenses in the screenshot are serial numbers with the following info
- On the first line: The serial number, and on the right, the email address that was used to activate the serial number
- A "subtitle line" with:
- Main/Upgrade/Option add on: shows the type of serial number. Note that you need at least one main serial per license.
- Number of channels: some serials can be for multiple channels at once, this will show the number of channels included with that serial number.
- Available options: all the options available for that serial will be shown.
- The last line of the screenshot is a dongle with:
- On the first line: The serial number of the dongle, and on the right, the customer name that was used when programming the dongle
- A "subtitle line" with:
- if there is one license on the dongle: a description of the license
- if there is more than one license on the dongle: the number of licenses. click on the "i" icon on the right to see the list of the licenses available for this application.
- The first 2 licenses in the screenshot are serial numbers with the following info
You then have 3 buttons at the bottom:
- Buy license(s)...: To go to our website to check your buying options
- ? : To go to the Help Center for more info on the license management
- Manage Licenses...: To activate/Release serial numbers
The "Manage Serials" window
If you click on the "Manage Serials..." button, after signing in, the following window will show up:
You can see all the serials that you have in your account for the application you have started (it will not show the serials of other applications). You will be able to add new serials, and see a description of the serials, see where they are activated, and on which computer.
As you can see, the serials can have different status, with different actions possible for each:
-
Available:
- Description: the serial is ready to be activated on this (or any other) computer.
- Available action: Activate
-
Activated in this application:
- Description: the serial is activated on this computer, in this application. IF you want to activate it on another computer, you should release it.
- Available action: Release
-
In Use (in yellow):
- Description: the serial is already activated on another computer (with its name between brackets) using the new activation system. If you want to use it here, you have to go to that computer, and do a clean release
- Available action: Force Release. (only to be done if a clean release is not possible)
-
In Use (in orange):
- Description: the serial is already activated on another computer (with its MAC address between brackets) using the OLD activation system
- Available action: None (you should migrate to the new activation system to be able to do more actions)
-
Should be Re-Activated:
- Description: the serial was previously activated on this computer, in this application, but for some reason the activation was lost, and it should be reactivated.
- Available action: Re-Activate
