HOW TO: "Release" a Serial Number?

What is a "Release" of a serial?

Releasing a serial number is the process of making it available for activation, allowing it to be used with the software.

When?

You will want to release a serial number simply when it was activated on a computer and you want to activate it on another computer. As a serial number can only be activated on one computer at a times, you will then "release" it so it is available again.

How?

To properly release a serial number, the only way is to go on the computer where it was previously activated. If you don't remember where it was last activated, check the following article to know how to find it. Note that it is not possible to release a serial number on the "Softron License Manager" platform in a browser.

Once you are on the computer with the activation, go into the application menu, and select "Licenses"

Then in the "Application Licenses" window, you should see one or more licenses activated:

Then simply click "Manage Serials...", log in to view the following window:

Click on the "Release" button.

That's it! Your serial is now properly released and you can activate it on another computer:

TROUBLESHOOTING:

If you don't see the serial in the "Application Licenses" window.

Check the following:

• make sure to check if the last activation was done using the old activation system or the new one. You can only release (or deactivate) a serial number with the same activation system that was used to activate it. You may have to download a more recent version, or use the migration process.
• maybe you have reformatted your computer. In that case, click on "Manage Serials", login and reactivate your license.
• double-check you are on the appropriate computer. If you still can not find it, you may have to consider doing a "Force Release".

If it shows in the "Application Licenses" window, but you don't see the same license in the "Manage Serials" window, it probably means that it was activated using a different account than the one you logged in with. To check which account was used to do the activation, close the "Manage Serials" window and check in the "Application Licenses" window:
