Ordering a Dongle with Licenses

When ordering a dongle, you may assign as many eligible licenses as you own to it.

If you purchase the dongle and licenses at the same time, we will configure everything on the dongle for you, no additional steps required.

If you already own licenses and would like to add them to a dongle later, the licenses must first be deactivated before they can be migrated. Please refer to the dongle upgrade procedure for detailed instructions on how licenses can be added to a dongle.

When Might a License Transfer Be Needed?

You may wish to move licenses in situations such as:

• You ordered licenses with the dongle option and they were added at purchase, but you now want to move some licenses to another dongle or to a serial number.
• You purchased licenses first and later added a dongle, migrating the licenses to it, and now want to move some back to a serial number or another dongle.
• You already had a dongle and purchased additional licenses later that were added to the same dongle, and you would now like to separate some of them onto another dongle or serial number.

Administrative Fee

License transfers between dongles or between a dongle and a serial number are generally possible (except for bundled licenses as noted above).

Please note that license transfers require manual administrative processing. If the transfer is requested separately from a new software license order (ordering a dongle alone does not qualify), an administrative fee will apply.

If you are placing a new software license order at the same time as requesting the transfer, we can usually process the move free of charge.

Important Information About Bundled Licenses

Licenses purchased as part of a bundle (such as M| or S| family bundles) cannot be split. They can be moved between dongles or from a dongle to serial numbers, but all the licenses part of the bundles at once.

These bundles are offered at a preferential rate based on the understanding that all included licenses are used together on a single computer. For this reason, bundled licenses must remain assigned together and cannot be separated across different dongles or serial numbers.
