Why does MovieRecorder adds automatically the Source or Destination name to the file name?

Sometimes, you may see that MovieRecorder will add to the file name either the Source Name, or the Destination name.

We do that to make sure that each file recorded in the same location has a different name. Otherwise it could result in naming conflicts, and/or 2 sources recording to the same file.

When is the "Source name" added?

The "Source name" is added if you have multiple source enabled, AND:

  • The recording name (indicated at the bottom of the Viewer) is the same for all sources.
  • OR you use a "custom naming" that does not include the "Recording name", nor the "Destination name".

When we add the source name, we log something like this:

Adding Source token to avoid naming collision

When is the "Destination name" added?

The "Destination name" is added if you have multiple destinations using the same "path", AND:

  • The recording name (indicated at the bottom of the Viewer) is the same for all sources.
  • OR you use a "custom naming" that does not include the "Recording name", nor the "Destination name".

When we add the destination name, we log something like this:

Adding Destination token to avoid naming collision
