Requirements
- Requires all incoming signals to be genlocked, and using the same format and frame rate.
- Requires timecode embedded in the SDI signal. This may be challenging, but is the only way to be 100% sure of sync between all of the signals.
Limitations
- Currently this feature only works with Blackmagic-Design devices. Other devices will be supported later on.
The number of formats and frame rates is currently limited (see screenshot). Ask us if you need to support one that is not currently in the list, as we will be adding more.
How to use it
To create a "High Frame Rate" input, you will need to group multiple inputs together. So for example if you group 4 x 1080p30 sources, this will create one 1080b120 HFR source, and source 1 will receive the first frame of the signal, source 2, the second frame, etc... So the sync between these signals is essential, and this is why they need to be genlocked, and have timecode embedded.
In the Sources list, select 2 ore more Blackmagic-Design sources
Right-click and select "Create HFR Input"
A new source named "HFR Input 1" will be created. Note that there is no auto-detect for the format, so you will have to set it.
To do so, locate it and click on the drop-down menu to select its format:
That's it. You can now use it the same way you use other sources.
A few more things:
- Once the HFR input is created, you can reorder the sources inside simply with a drag and drop, and make sure that the one on top is the one receiving the first frame in time of your signal, etc...
- You can also add or remove sources to that HFR input simply by dragging and dropping sources inside or outside the HFR input.
- To remove a HFR input, simply right click on it and select "Remove HFR Input"
- For your destinations, you will be limited to the codecs that support those frame rates.
