About "Live" and "Archived" status
Your M|Replay session can have two different status:
- Live: This status is the one set when you are creating a new session or have resumed a closed one. When a session is "Live", if you connect/disconnect a video device, they will show up.
- Archived: In this status, you won't be able to enable the inputs anymore and it will show the list of inputs that were enabled when you archived the session, even if the video device is disconnected. This allows you to reopen the session on a different computer that do not have the same video device available and work with it. Your session has an "archived" status, either:
- if you have selected the menu "Closed and Archive"
- if you have closed it, and then reopened it more than one hour later
How do I "Close" or "Close and Archive"?
When you have a live session you can:
- To simply close the session:
- Use the Red close icon at the top left of the window
- Or quit the application
- To Close and Archive, select the menu "File > Close and Archive Session"
When can I resume a session?
When you reopen a session that was simply closed, less than one hour later, M|Replay will show you the "Resume Session" options:
We do not offer the "Resume" option if the session was closed more than 1 hour before because it may create very long black gaps in your session if you inadvertently reopen a very old session.
What about the Pause and Resume Recordings on all inputs?
In the menu "File", you have these two options:
- Pause Recordings on all inputs
- Resume Recordings on all inputs
These options are available only for "Live" Sessions, not for Archived ones. They allow you to pause the recording during a break in your event for example, so you don't fill up your disk with unnecessary videos, and so you don't have to recreate a new session.
