HOW TO: Control GPICommander using a REST API

One of the nicest thing about GPICommander is that it can be controlled using a REST API. This means that you can control it remotely from a simple webpage, or a third party application.

The documentation about the protocol is easily accessible from the GPICommander application itself. That way you are always sure to have the correct version of the API. On the computer where the GPICommander application is running, simply type in a browser:

http://127.0.0.1:8088/api.html 

Note that the REST API control the GPICommander software which in turn communicates with the GPICommander box. So you need to have the software running at all times.
